November was full of activity, from the Private Label Manufacturers Association (PLMA) show to Food ingredients (Fi) Europe.
SupplySide Food & Beverage Journal Content Director Audarshia Townsend attended this year’s PLMA show, held Nov. 17-19 in Chicago, while fellow colleagues attended Fi Europe in Frankfurt, Germany, from Nov. 19-21. “At both shows, which attracted thousands of attendees, plant-based innovations dominated, which included everything from ice cream, yogurt and protein-packed pastas to functional bars, chocolates and baked goods,” Townsend said.
In this month’s recap, she also highlighted Business Bites, our weekly news column, which covers some of the most important industry news. It’s published every Monday by Scott Miller, staff writer at SupplySide Food & Beverage Journal.
In the Nov. 18 edition, Miller reports on a lawsuit Lindt is facing due to elevated lead levels in its dark chocolate products. “What we really have here is a widespread contamination problem that we need to deal with on a sourcing level, essentially, in the food industry,” he said.
